The Pink Toothbrush says "CHECK THIS VU VU VULTURES VIDEO"

VU VU VULTURES release new single "I'll Cut You" on Popular recordings and us at the Pink Toothbrush think this is quite possibly the best thing we have heard in a long time

I'll Cut You - Vuvuvultures (Official Video) from Popular TV on Vimeo.

London-based Vuvuvultures (VVV) have been swiftly yet subtly building momentum since their conception in 2011, having developed into a cult-status live band, VVV take over warehouses and host multi-faceted collective parties called ‘The Island’. From the self-made artwork, to half of east-London rocking the synonymous symbol t shirts; from the weird and wonderful videos, to the semi-nude, paint-drenched performances, VVV have established themselves as one of the most creative and innovative bands to emerge in the past year. With support from 6music, XFM and Amazing Radio, ‘I’ll Cut You’ is taken from the brilliant ‘VVV EP’ released earlier this year (5* from Artrocker, “suavely seductive”). The EP deftly represents the ease and variance of songwriting and production that the band execute - acting as an impressive taster for this first standalone single. VVV have been featured in BEAT, 1883, Vogue, Wonderland, as well as a whole host of tastemaker fashion and music blogs such as The Recommender, “…they have some fresh ideas and lots of style. This isn’t just another guitar band. Introducing the dangerously beautiful and charismatic frontwoman, Harmony Boucher, who leads from the front, which is an essential ingredient”. JUNE 17th – ECLAF, Village Underground, LDN 22nd – Magnet Club, BERLIN 27th – Oporto, LEEDS 28th – Trof, MANCHESTER 29th – Bungalow & Bears, SHEFFIELD 30th – Oakford Social Club, READING JULY 01st - DV8, YORK 07th – SINGLE LAUNCH / The Island, TBA 13th – Atlantico Live, ROME 14th – Lottarox Summer Festival, ITALY By creating, working and living together, VVV have become a close unit; though unlike many of their London musical-peers, each member brings an individual musical taste and outlook from their native countries and past experiences. Fronted by Australian-born model, Harmony Boucher, the band formed upon a chance meeting with Brazilian bassist, Nicole Marie Bettencourt Coelho; one rehearsal later with South Africans Paul Ressel (guitar, production) and Matthew Christensen (drums), and Vuvuvultures was born.

STONE ROSES DOCUMENTRY NEWS

Shane Meadows' documentary on The Stone Roses could be ready in time for Christmas. Speaking to the BBC ahead of the band's three comeback gigs last weekend in Manchester's Heaton Park, the film's producer Mark Herbert (This Is England), said of the as yet untitled project: "I was hoping to get it out by Christmas. But over this weekend alone we were going to shoot 180 to 200 hours of footage. We've got 35 cameras out there – I feel like I'm making the titanic at the moment. I want to get it out by Christmas. That's the dream." Director Shane Meadows also admitted that he shelved a major film project to focus on the documentary. He said: "We were supposed to do another film this year. A massive budget film. And then, it was like, OK. And now we're doing this. We wanted to do this so much more." Herbert added that he also halted work on the series This Is England '90, in which he had planned to use The Stone Roses in the soundtrack. He said: The mad thing for me is, I was supposed to be doing This Is England '90. That was the one I was looking forward to the most because I was going to get to use the Roses' music. And the only thing that could have superceded me doing that was the Roses themselves reforming and asking me to make that film. It was kind of like whatever I'm doing, I'll put down because that's like the job of the world for me.

BANKSY strikes again !!!

The web has been abuzz all afternoon with chatter of a new Banksy street art piece in North London. According to locals this piece appeared some time in early hours this morning on the side of Poundland on Whymark Avenue in Turnpike Lane. This piece has not officially been confirmed as a Banksy piece, but with the Queen's upcoming Diamond Jubilee, the location of this piece and the style and cut of the stencil it is highly likely that it's the work of Banksy.

INBETWEENER makes directing debut with Essex band THE MILK

The Inbetweener and friend of the pink toothbrush James Buckley has made his directorial debut on fellow friends of The Pink Toothbrush Essex band The Milk's new music video for their single 'Every Time We Fight.' Asked how he got involved, Buckley said: "I got involved through mutual friends. I've liked the band for some time and I just an email out of the blue from a mate of mine (the brush's very own promoter Stu lol) who knows the band asking if I'd get involved in the video. I put myself forward to direct and I came up with the concept of the video as well. It's been the most rewarding thing I've done in my career so far." Then asked what the video was about and his role in it, the actor added: "The band have described the song as a love letter to the working class and I've basically filmed the video in the working men's club where my dad would drag me to on a Friday and I still drink in now."
He continued: "It's about those characters that you see in the every pub and capturing that in a beautiful manner. There's a back story of a factory closing and how the people then come together as a community. The song was written at the same time as the London riots and it's a kick back at that. I play a worker, who rallies everyone together."
Stu from the club was also on set making a behind the scenes feature which will be out shortly ..... expect us at the brush blog to be shouting about THE MILK as we honestly believe they are the next big thing !!!! unfortunatly James and co are still editing the video so in the meantime feast your eyes on the last single "Broke Up The Family"

Blink-182 cancel tour

Blink-182 have cancelled a number of North American tour dates after drummer Travis Barker had to undergo an emergency operation. The pop-punks are rescheduling a small number of the dates, but have pulled the vast majority as Barker needs an urgent tonsillectomy. According to a statement on the band's official website, his recovery period "is expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates". The statement said: "The band apologises for any inconvenience as a result of these cancelations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support." There is currently no word on whether Barker's condition will affect the trio's UK and Ireland tour, which is due to kick off at Birmingham's NIA in less than a month (June 7). The jaunt also includes dates in Dublin, Belfast, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle and Glasgow, along with two nights at London's O2 Arena. The tour has already been rescheduled once before after originally being pencilled in for last July. The dates were pushed back in order to allow the band to finish their latest album, 2011's 'Neighborhoods'. Earlier this year, the band revealed they're already working on the follow-up to the album, with frontman Mark Hoppus stating he'd been writing new songs while out on the road with his side-project Angels and Airwaves.

Alanis Morissette has announced that she will release a new album titled 'Havoc And Bright Lights' in August. The singer, who released her most recent studio album 'Flavors Of Entanglement' in 2008, will put out her new album on August 27. The 12-track record is the eighth studio album of her career. The album will be preceded by a single 'Guardian', which is the record's opening track. 'Guardian' will be given its radio debut on May 11 and will be released as a single four days later. Speaking about the album, the Canadian singer said: "This record, as always, is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments. It is my emotional, psychological, social and philosophical commentary through song." Morissette will tour in support of her new album in the UK next month. WHO OWNS KURT COBAIN ?????

Courtney Love has not had control of Kurt Cobain's image since 2010, according to reports. The Fix claims to have obtained documents that show Love agreed to stepped down as Acting Manager of the business responsible for Cobain's publicity rights, End of Music LLC, after receiving a $2.75 million loan from the trust fund of pair's daughter Frances Bean in 2010. According to the report, this gave 19-year-old Frances Bean control of the publicity rights for the Nirvana icon’s name, likeness and appearance until Love repays the money. The report also claims that Love has no control over Cobain's or Nirvana's music, which is 100 per cent controlled by Primary Wave Music CEO Larry Mestel. Love recently claimed that she owned the rights to Cobain's music and has the power to approve whether they can be used in commercial projects when she accused The Muppets of "raping" the legacy of Cobain by using the classic Nirvana track 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in the 2011 film The Muppets. Last year, Love reportedly signed a deal to pen her own memoir. It is thought that the book will "set the record straight" about her marriage to Nirvana late frontman Kurt Cobain, her career as a rock star and actress, and her relationships with other celebrities.

THE SMITHS REUNION !!!!!

The Smiths, widely regarded as THE seminal British band, are to throw their differences aside and return to the live stage this autumn. The legendary songwriting partnership comprising of musical luminaries Morrissey and Marr are set to make a return after finding common ground. It will be the first time that Manchester's independent monoliths, who were signed to London's Rough Trade label, have graced a stage since their acrimonious split in 1987. Legal wranglings in the band saw other members, Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (drums), sue with varying degrees of success. This announcement comes after a source revealed that the 80s icons had been in talks to perform with a well-known promoter. The decision was said to have been made after fellow Mancunians, The Stone Roses, gave in and reformed. The Smiths had previously turned down a lucrative offer of over 76 million pounds to tour the US. Watch this space...

TUPAC performs as HOLLOGRAM with SNOOP DOGG

Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has performed live with a remarkably lifelike hologram of murdered rapper Tupac Shakur.

The high-tech 3D image of the deceased rapper performed a song by himself before collaborating with Dogg, who was headlining the massive California festival Coachella.

The barechested hologram then bowed his head and vaporised before Eminem entered the stage.

The technology was previously used to allow Mariah Carey to perform five simultaneous concerts across Europe last year.

Earlier reports predicted Dogg and fellow rap icon Dr Dre would perform with a hologram of long-time collaborator Nate Dogg, who died last year from a series of strokes.

Groundbreaking rapper Shakur was shot dead in Las Vegas in 1996.

Dogg and Dr Dre's Coachella gig also featured appearances from 50 Cent, Warren G and Wiz Khalifa.

BLOC PARTY REUNITE AND TOUR

Bloc Party have announced details of a UK tour, which will take place this June.

The band, who are currently working on the follow up to their 2008 LP 'Intimacy', will play three intimate shows. The trek kicks off with a date at Glasgow Garage on June 19, followed by a show at Manchester's HMV Ritz on June 20 and wrapping up at London Koko on June 21. They will also play a run of European and US shows throughout the summer - for more information, see live.blocparty.com.

Speaking about the tour dates, frontman Kele Okereke said: "Hello intenet. I know it's been a long two and half years since Bloc Party last performed in the UK. Well it seems that wait is over, we are happy to announce a short run of intimate shows for our friends in the UK and our friends in the US.

He also revealed that the band would be playing material from the as-yet-untitled new LP, adding: "We will be playing choice cuts from our new record as well as some more familiar jams. We hope to see you soon."

Last month (March 22), Bloc Party revealed that they had inked a new record deal with French Kiss Records, and will also be re-releasing their 2004 single 'She's Hearing Voices' for this year's Record Store Day on April 21. They will also play a number of European festivals this summer, including Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks on September 4 and 5, respectively.

London Koko (21)

JOHNNY MARR HINTS AT SMITHS REUNION

Johnny Marr has revealed that he knows how much a Smiths reunion would mean to fans, saying it would be great for everyone to see the band back on stage.

Speaking in Rolling Stone, Marr admitted that he's aware of the desire to see The Smiths join the likes of Pulp, Blur and Stone Roses in reuniting for one last swansong.

"I don't know about the possibility, but what I do know is that I understand how great it would be to make so many people happy," adding:. "The other thing I know is that Morrissey and I are so very different. Those are the only things I know."

Speaking about how any decision regarding the future of The Smiths will not be based on money however, Marr added: "Nothing really gets off the ground just purely because of money. Certainly, as I see it, so many other things would have to be fixed and we're just too different to get them fixed, it appears."

DEFTONES RETURN !!!!!

Deftones plan to return to the recording studio in July this year to record their seventh studio album.

The band recently revealed that the album, which they promise will be 'futuristic', is already written - and now just needs to be recorded.

"I know everybody says this, but I believe this is the best record we've made," frontman Chino Moreno tells Latercera magazine. "I'm very enthusiastic, because it sounds futuristic in comparison to our last one, so it feels like a step forward.

"The songs are very different from each other, not heavier or slower, but more dynamic, going towards several directions; it's heavy, but beautiful."

He also spoke to the magazine about the current situation with Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who has been in a semi-conscious state since his involvement in a car accident in 2008.

"Every day is different, and he keeps on fighting. It's been three years already, and he's making small advancements, daily, but he can't speak or communicate," Moreno added. "Sometimes he can follow small instructions, like lifting a leg or a hand, so we wish for the best and maintain hope. But no doctor can predict when he's going to wake up."

Viva Brother announced today that they have split up.

The band broke the news via their Official Twitter page shortly after 12pm on April 1. Many fans had believed that the announcement was an April Fools hoax, but a spokesman for the band confirmed that the statement was true.

Shortly after, the band then wrote that they'd "leave you with one last song", before posting a video link to a new song titled 'I Don't Want To Be Loved'. You can listen to the track by scrolling down the page and clicking.

SONISPHERE THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT

After rumours broke yesterday that Sonisphere were making a huge announcement today, we can officially confirm that Sonisphere Knebworth is cancelled.

Below is the official statement from the festival organisers:

“It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012.

Putting the festival together in what is proving to be a very challenging year was more difficult than we anticipated and we have spent the last few months fighting hard to keep Sonisphere in the calendar.

Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we would be unable to run the festival to a standard that both the artists and that Sonisphere’s audience would rightly expect.

We want to express our deepest regrets to the artists and to thank all the staff, suppliers and contractors who worked so hard with us to try and pull off what has proven to be an impossible task and we know how much they share in our disappointment. We also want to send a huge thanks to the Sonisphere fans who stuck by us and we are so sorry that we can’t fulfil what we set out to do.

Ticket holders will automatically receive a full refund direct from their ticket agents.

Team Sonisphere.”

As far as we are aware, the remaining Sonisphere festivals across Europe will go ahead as planned. Needless to say, we’re all gutted at the prospect of missing out on Sonisphere this year, and when we hear anything on the future of the festival moving forward, you’ll be the first to know.

For those who don’t know you, give us an introduction you are…OLUGBENGA. All caps. Bass player in Metronomy, laptop DJ, remixer.

What did you do at the weekend?
I played a show with Metronomy in Tours, a lovely city about two hours south of Paris. We drove, so Friday and Sunday were mostly spent sitting in a van watching Boardwalk Empire and working on a remix.

Tell us how you got into music, and doing what you do now…I grew up singing with my Von Trappe-style family. Then I sang in a gospel choir. Was briefly in a hip-hop outfit called Tribes of the Most High with some friends from church (we were young, what can I say?). Fastforward a few years, and I was singing for a dubstep outfit called Various Production and started touring with them and a couple of other bands. Then I got an email from a mutual friend asking if I was interested in trying out for Metronomy. In the last year (while Joe Mount finished the new album), I taught myself how to DJ with Ableton Live and started doing remixes.

If you could work with anyone in the world, who would it be?
I don't know if I'd want to work with him (frankly, I'd be too scared). But I'd love to watch Trent Reznor put an album together. Ideally one with Alan Moulder involved.

Also, I would have loved to see Jay Dilla put a beat together. Apparently it only took him about 15mins to make a classic. Could we maybe just get the universe to send him back for 15mins?

We wanna know your Top 3…

Artists / Dj’s - EAN, Kanye West, Om Unit

Blogs - RapRadar, The Lefsetz Letter, Jeremy Scahill on the Nation

Tracks - Three Trapped Tigers '11', Take That 'Affirmation' (yeah, seriously), Late of the Pier 'Best In Class (Soulwax Remix)'

Mixes - Girl Talk 'Night Ripper', Hudson Mohawke 'Hudson's Heeters Vol 2', Various Production 'Square Roots Mix'

Clubnights - Skint Mondays (Reading), Dance Right (LA), Bangers & Mash (London)
