THE SMITHS REUNION !!!!!

The Smiths, widely regarded as THE seminal British band, are to throw their differences aside and return to the live stage this autumn. The legendary songwriting partnership comprising of musical luminaries Morrissey and Marr are set to make a return after finding common ground. It will be the first time that Manchester's independent monoliths, who were signed to London's Rough Trade label, have graced a stage since their acrimonious split in 1987. Legal wranglings in the band saw other members, Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (drums), sue with varying degrees of success. This announcement comes after a source revealed that the 80s icons had been in talks to perform with a well-known promoter. The decision was said to have been made after fellow Mancunians, The Stone Roses, gave in and reformed. The Smiths had previously turned down a lucrative offer of over 76 million pounds to tour the US. Watch this space...

TUPAC performs as HOLLOGRAM with SNOOP DOGG

Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has performed live with a remarkably lifelike hologram of murdered rapper Tupac Shakur.

The high-tech 3D image of the deceased rapper performed a song by himself before collaborating with Dogg, who was headlining the massive California festival Coachella.

The barechested hologram then bowed his head and vaporised before Eminem entered the stage.

The technology was previously used to allow Mariah Carey to perform five simultaneous concerts across Europe last year.

Earlier reports predicted Dogg and fellow rap icon Dr Dre would perform with a hologram of long-time collaborator Nate Dogg, who died last year from a series of strokes.

Groundbreaking rapper Shakur was shot dead in Las Vegas in 1996.

Dogg and Dr Dre's Coachella gig also featured appearances from 50 Cent, Warren G and Wiz Khalifa.

BLOC PARTY REUNITE AND TOUR

Bloc Party have announced details of a UK tour, which will take place this June.

The band, who are currently working on the follow up to their 2008 LP 'Intimacy', will play three intimate shows. The trek kicks off with a date at Glasgow Garage on June 19, followed by a show at Manchester's HMV Ritz on June 20 and wrapping up at London Koko on June 21. They will also play a run of European and US shows throughout the summer - for more information, see live.blocparty.com.

Speaking about the tour dates, frontman Kele Okereke said: "Hello intenet. I know it's been a long two and half years since Bloc Party last performed in the UK. Well it seems that wait is over, we are happy to announce a short run of intimate shows for our friends in the UK and our friends in the US.

He also revealed that the band would be playing material from the as-yet-untitled new LP, adding: "We will be playing choice cuts from our new record as well as some more familiar jams. We hope to see you soon."

Last month (March 22), Bloc Party revealed that they had inked a new record deal with French Kiss Records, and will also be re-releasing their 2004 single 'She's Hearing Voices' for this year's Record Store Day on April 21. They will also play a number of European festivals this summer, including Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks on September 4 and 5, respectively.

Bloc Party will play:

JOHNNY MARR HINTS AT SMITHS REUNION

Johnny Marr has revealed that he knows how much a Smiths reunion would mean to fans, saying it would be great for everyone to see the band back on stage.

Speaking in Rolling Stone, Marr admitted that he's aware of the desire to see The Smiths join the likes of Pulp, Blur and Stone Roses in reuniting for one last swansong.

"I don't know about the possibility, but what I do know is that I understand how great it would be to make so many people happy," adding:. "The other thing I know is that Morrissey and I are so very different. Those are the only things I know."

Speaking about how any decision regarding the future of The Smiths will not be based on money however, Marr added: "Nothing really gets off the ground just purely because of money. Certainly, as I see it, so many other things would have to be fixed and we're just too different to get them fixed, it appears."

Florence And The Machine's duet with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has emerged online, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to hear the track.

The pair have duetted on a cover of 'Jackson', the Jerry Leiber and Billy Edd Wheeler song made famous by Johnny Cash and June Carter.

The track is taken from the band's new live album, which was recorded at the band's MTV Unplugged performance late last year. The performance took place on December 16 in New York City and featured Florence Welch, three members of her band and a 10-piece gospel choir. Kanye West and rapper Q-Tip were among those in the show's audience.

The 11-song set also included a cover of Otis Redding's 'Try A Little Tenderness' as well as the band's hit singles 'Shake It Out', 'Dog Days Are Over' and 'Drumming Song'. 'MTV Unplugged' will be released on CD and digital download on April 9.

The tracklisting for 'MTV Unplugged' is as follows:

DEFTONES RETURN !!!!!

Deftones plan to return to the recording studio in July this year to record their seventh studio album.

The band recently revealed that the album, which they promise will be 'futuristic', is already written - and now just needs to be recorded.

"I know everybody says this, but I believe this is the best record we've made," frontman Chino Moreno tells Latercera magazine. "I'm very enthusiastic, because it sounds futuristic in comparison to our last one, so it feels like a step forward.

"The songs are very different from each other, not heavier or slower, but more dynamic, going towards several directions; it's heavy, but beautiful."

He also spoke to the magazine about the current situation with Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who has been in a semi-conscious state since his involvement in a car accident in 2008.

"Every day is different, and he keeps on fighting. It's been three years already, and he's making small advancements, daily, but he can't speak or communicate," Moreno added. "Sometimes he can follow small instructions, like lifting a leg or a hand, so we wish for the best and maintain hope. But no doctor can predict when he's going to wake up."

VIVA BROTHER SPLIT !!

Viva Brother announced today that they have split up.

The band broke the news via their Official Twitter page shortly after 12pm on April 1. Many fans had believed that the announcement was an April Fools hoax, but a spokesman for the band confirmed that the statement was true.

@VIVABROTHER
Thank you to everyone that has ever supported us or believed. It has been an unbelievable journey. This is us signing off. Goodbye.

Shortly after, the band then wrote that they'd "leave you with one last song", before posting a video link to a new song titled 'I Don't Want To Be Loved'. You can listen to the track by scrolling down the page and clicking.
