The first trailer for CBGB, the forthcoming film about the legendary New York punk club, is now online. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch it. Alan Rickman stars as the club's founder Hilly Kristal and the film follows the story of CBGB from its origins as a venue for country, bluegrass and blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of US punk and underground rock. The trailer ends with the film's tongue-in-cheek strapline: "50,000 bands and 1 disgusting bathroom." CBGB's ensemble cast includes Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, Malin Ã…kerman as Debbie Harry, Rupert GrintThe Dead Boys' guitarist Cheetah Chrome and Sting's daughter Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith. Twilight actress Ashley Greene appears as Kristal's daughter Lisa, who served as one of the film's producers. The film's soundtrack, which will be released on CD, download and vinyl, includes original music from The Police, Television, Talking Heads, The Velvet Underground and Joey Ramone, as well as a new version of 'Sunday Girl' by Blondie. CBGB was directed and co-written by Randall Miller, who is also working on a forthcoming biopic of The Beach Boys. It opens in US cinemas on October 11, though UK release details have yet to be confirmed.
